Methodology
Education is what one learns and experiences in life. Education is a constant process. With progress comes improvisation and with development in technology comes more exhaustive and in-depth learning. At Sacred heart, a conducive ambience is created for a healthy education that nurtures a positive outlook and the freedom to think and act in way that is morally becoming of a global citizen with sound Indian values.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten being the formative years of developmental stage, our main focus lies on ability based teaching-learning process. The curriculum is designed to cater the needs of today’s world. Our teams of teachers are specially trained and the teaching is mainly based on practical and visual learning. The curriculum is based on the children’s understanding of the world through a thematic approach. This includes language development, pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-numerical skills, and social and science experiences.
Creative arts, music, dance, rhymes and stories are given importance in the curriculum. The various innovative methodologies like puppets, models, flash cards, songs and rhymes and class room activities are being practiced to teach this age group.
Apart from the above mentioned methodologies children are taken out for Field Visits, where they are exposed to Sensory Motor Skills, Developmental Games and Models.
All the Religious, National and International days are celebrated inside the classroom and in the school to make the children experience the value of cultural heritage of all religion and as well as to bring awareness among them.
The classrooms are adequately equipped with developmentally appropriate resources: child furniture for the comfort of the children racks to keep children’s belongings. Learning and teaching materials, toys and play equipment, display boards. Each classroom is provided with state-of-the-art Digital Smart class E techs, to promote visual based teaching and the students are always kept engrossed through interactive teaching methodology that ensures their active involvement.
The spacious outdoor space is provided for the vigorous movement and free ply, catering to the safety of children. It is equipped with essential play material to enhance gross motor skills.
Primary
Primary as the word conveys is the basic platform of education needed to open the vistas for learning in the child. Students are taught to develop Confidence. The Ideal classroom strength in each class helps the teachers provide individual attention to each student. Each classroom is provided with state-of-the-art infrastructure, complete with custom designed electronic interactive white boards, projection systems, PCs and UPS, to promote visual based teaching and the students are always kept engrossed through interactive teaching methodology that ensures their active involvement.
Smart Classes
The ambience at Sacred Heart inspires learning and the facilities are truly sophisticated and world class. Teaching has evolved today from conventional chalk and duster mode of teaching to technology driven e-learning The Smart Class is a comprehensive solution designed to assist teachers in meeting day-to-day classroom challenges and in enhancing the academic performance of students with simple, practical and meaningful use of technology.
The Smart Class has a unique delivery model wherein a Knowledge Center is connected to the classrooms through Internet. Teachers get the relevant digital resources such as animations and videos; interactive virtual lab tools etc. and use them as a part of their lesson plans in every classroom period.
The classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, complete with custom designed electronic interactive boards, projection systems, PCs and UPS. This makes learning an enjoyable experience for students while also improving their overall academic performance.
Evaluation / Assessment
Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) Scheme followed for classes I to IX. CCE helps in improving student’s performance by identifying his / her learning difficulties at regular time intervals right from the beginning of the academic session for enhancing their learning performance. The scheme has inbuilt flexibility to plan their own academic schedules as per specified guidelines on CCE.
The CCE system has been introduced to take the burden off the students and to make the learning system better in schools. As Per the CCE, students are evaluated through Formative assessments (FA) that is conducted through each term and Summative Assessments (SA) which will be carried out at the end of a particular term. Along with the academic skills, Life skills , arts and sports activities will be included in the evaluating system. Formative assessment (FA) will be done by the teachers based on the participation of the students in the class, projects and other discussions. These formative assessments are for a total of 40 marks. Summative assessments (Written Tests) will be done based on the written test for a total of 60 marks. Both FA and SA will be conducted thrice and the cumulative total scores would be converted into grades by the schools on a 10 point scale. CCE is similar to semesters in colleges.
